Happy New Year and welcome back to gardening at Vera Street in 2008! I hope you all had a good break and feel refreshed and ready to tackle the year
ahead.

Usually we have our working bee on the fourth Sunday of the month, but as
this falls on the Australia Day long weekend, we thought it would be better
to postpone it until the first Sunday in February. Our reasoning was that
some would be away for that weekend and others could be getting kids ready
for the start of the school year.

If you are keen to start at the garden anyway that's not a problem. I know
Lynn intends to be down there on Sunday to begin the mulching of the grass
near the compost bays. I'm sure she would greatly appreciate a hand or two.
Thanks also to Lynn for keeping the garden mowen over the Christmas break;
it would be sooooo overgrown if not for her regular workouts on the mower!!

There is plenty of weeding that needs doing following the magnificent rain
over the past 6 weeks.
